Kristina has been assuming that nobody knows that shes back on the "crank".
She is then surprised that her mother and Scott knew all along. Cluelessly waiting, she then puts her son Hunter in danger, and her mother finally takes a stand and kicks her to the curb demanding Kristina to get her life together, Her mother also takes Hunter away until she learns how to properly take care of a child.
Kristina vows to pull herself together for her son....
"The problem with the resolution is they're only as solid as the person making them." The only way she will survive is if she changes the path that she is on. The smartest decision is to stop doing drugs and get her son back.
Unfortunately, she falls back into the continuous loop of sex and drugs by living with the cousin of her latest boyfriend. Kristina is aware of her addiction but she doesn't have the power to stop it. Eventually, selling drugs is the only way to survive.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes realistic fiction. While reading this book, you feel as if you have to put yourself in the characters shoes, each verse's imagery is clear and you can picture the setting spot on. I can connect with this book because my family has experienced similar situations like Kristina and her own.
"...Later, life became harder, complicated. Ultimately a living hell, like swimming against a riptide, walking the wrong direction in the fast lane of the freeway, walking from sweetest dreams to find yourself in the middle of a nightmare." One time or another we have all felt as if we were stuck or confused. Not knowing who we are or what to do.
