The water was at freezing temperatures and remained under for 11 minutes, as described in the book, "Eleven minutes might as well be eternity underwater. It only takes three minutes without air for loss of consciousness. Permanent brain damage begins at four minutes. And them, when the oxygen runs out, cardiac arrest occurs. Death is possible at five minutes. Probably seven. Definite at ten. Decker pulled me out at eleven." Fitting. This was, after all, my hell. This pit around the lake. The lake that had taken so much. My friendship with Decker. My humanity. Quite nearly my life. And I was so angry with it. I wasn't scared anymore. I was furious.” the lives of teenagers become harder as one learns because it's inexperienced. Boston's 100 Greatest Games
Boston's 100 Greatest Games by Rob Sneddon talks about the 100 greatest games in Boston sports. Boston certainly has some history with its 36 championships. The Celtics have 17, Red Sox have 8, Bruins have 6, and the Patriots have 5. It talks about the Patriots' Super Bowl victories, the Red Sox's incredible comeback in the 2004 ALCS against the New York Yankees. the Celtics' NBA best 17 championships, and the Bruins' triumphs. It summarizes each game mentioned and the signifigance of each game. This is a really good book if you're a sports fan because you read about what you like and you learn some history. It's also a good book if you want to relive that memory of watching a specific game.

A book of suspense, drama, and thrill that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Number one New York Times bestselling author John Sanford and Michele Cook join together to write and amazing story about teenagers that must work together to expose an experimental science lab of the testing that they are doing on animals.
We are immediately immersed in a suspenseful break into the high security lab facility by a young boy named Odin and several other teenage kids to set free the animals facing cruel unusual lab experimenting and once the break in is complete Odin is on the run and his sister is brought into the thriller on the search for her brother.
For those who enjoy a breath taking, suspenseful story and who enjoy a relatable storyline, this is the book for them. right off the bat i had connected with the sister of Odin because i can see myself in her shoes as she goes out on the search for her bother. Him being the only "family" she has left. As readers its good to relate to a character of the book as a way to have a deeper connection with the novel. But by no means does that infer that the reader won't enjoy a good read even if any of the characters aren't relatable. i would recommend this book to people of all ages who like thrillers and adventures that are enjoyable.

The Borden Murders "Lizzie Borden and the trial of the century"
By: Sara Miller
" Lizzie Borden took an axe, gave her mother forty whacks. When she saw what she had done, she gave her father fourth one." One of the most notorious cases in American history, The Borden Murders By: Sarah Miller is a book depicting what happened the day Andrew Borden and Abby Borden where found brutally murdered. The date was August 4th, 1892 when everyone heard a frantic Lizzie Borden who stumbled upon a murdered mother and father. once the police showed up they started investigating immediately. They saw that Andrew and Abby were struck in the head with an object multiple times. Then they saw Andrews axe was missing in the shed, that when questions started flowing. Andrew and Abby were liked people around the community so there was no motive for someone to randomly attack them. So heads turned to inside the house, who would do this? who has a strong enough motive to do such a thing. If you read Sarah millers book your mind will be twisted to weather you believe Lizzie did it or not. The evidence tells nothing that proves Lizzie did it yet her actions and attitude make the police suspect somethings up "Her actions were not lady like" the police said. She was relatively calm and too blank to go unnoticed by the police, especially after both her parents were brutally murdered. Even though I have not read past her testimony to know if she is found guilty or not. What i do know is that its a very graphic book that doesn't hold back the details found on that shocking day. Its not for the weak stomached audience. Its for the suspense seeking audience that want to solve mysteries themselves and like to finish a book with there own opinion to who did the crime. I highly recommend this book and suggest it even more in the month of October.

Slow Getting Up
Liam Reynolds
There is adversity to overcome in this world whether it be at your workplace or even somewhere as simple as the gridiron. Nate Jackson takes us through his story of his life overcoming adversity as a football player.
Jackson started his career at a small D3 school, was signed by the 49ers to shortly be given up to the Denver Broncos where he spent 6 years of his life. Throughout his NFL career he had gone back and fourth between the practice squad, to the actual roster but always seemed to be interfered with because of the injured reserve where it is apparent he spent an abundant amount of time.
Every chapter Jackson describes how his life is like so many in the NFL but those who overcome will eventually prosper.
This book starts out very intriguing and really grabbed my attention but it slowly started to diminish. The same point can only be made so many times. It eventually just turned into a rave about how his injuries were so preventing and how that was the reason he isn't starting or he isn't where he wants to be because of some other reason. These just seem like poor excuses for not doing what he had to do to begin with. I would recommend this to someone who does not appreciate sports because it will give you more points on why you feel this way.

Fake ID
Henry Martinez
Fake ID
By Lamar Giles
Have you ever wondered what it mus be like to be in hiding for almost all your life, and having the constant fear that if you have one slip up it could lead to your ultimate downfall. Fake ID covers the premises of this idea with a teenager in hiding, with his mom and dad, from a wanted crime lord.
Fake ID is fictional story which has a teenager, Tony or known by many other names, as the main character. He has had the bad luck of being integrated in WIT SEC because his father was working with wanted criminal, Kreso. WIT SEC is the United States Federal Wittiness Protection Program. Tony's dad ends up willing to confess against his boss Kreso, leading to him going into hiding causing a constant danger to Tony's family. Due to danger of Kerso finding them and Tony's dad almost revealing their hidden personas, they have had to move and change way of life multiple times. Thus Tony hasn't grown up in the best of way considering the constant dramatic changes.
Fake ID's author, Lamar Giles, in my opinion did a good job while writing the book. Throughout reading Lamar's great writing techniques kept me wanting to read. For example, Lamar adds little bits of comedy to keep the readers attention in the book. comedic comments such as "I stayed there until the sun went down, then fell asleep with a rapper shouting at me" (pg 24). These comedic comments make the feeling of the book seem more normal. In essence something a reader can connect to. Yet he doesn't add too much hiding the fact of how serious some situation are. Lamar also does a great job revealing information at a good pace. For example Lamar reveals the facts of "Something wrong with Stepton" (pg 59) at slow pace which makes the readers want to read more. This way a reader wants to continue reading to find out what happens yet doesn't feeling the story builds at too slow of a pace. I strongly recommend the book for many people. If you like mystery esc story's Fake ID is perfect. The book is well written and isn't too east or too hard to read. In conclusion Fake ID is an all round great book and should be on many peoples' list.

A New Kingdom
Have you ever thought about what lurk out in the dead of night…..or among us. This manga is about vampires, werewolves, and other creatures so if you are into that stuff stick around.
The story follows Mina Tepes, Queen of all vampires and her protector Akira. At first it seems like a traditional vampire plot (non twilight) but then it takes a twist with Mina buying “THE BUND” which is known to the public as landfill zero is a man made island district that floats in the middle of Tokyo Harbor." This land has been designated a special district for vampires".Although she claims that the special district is for vampire only there are other supernatural creatures that take refuge there. " The only connection the island has with the mainland is a single undersea tunnel. Other than that there are no bridges or major ports." Easier to protect from an angry mob of people.
In my opinion this manga is amazing but it might not be for everyone. It's a romantic, has some politics, lots of action, and is strange but intriguing through out the whole series.
( I just want to preface that there is graphic content and partial nudity)

The Beginning Of Everything 2
The Beninning Of Everything
By: Robyn Schneider
Sarah DiGiorgio
As I continued with the book, The Beginning of Everything by Roby Schindler, I've learned that this book has made me happy, curious and suspenseful. I've continued to learn about the two characters Erza and Cassidy and what interesting things happen to them throughout the story like turning into more than friends. Leaving off from last time with the main character Erza, dealing with his ex-girlfriend in tragic accident. I have now moved on to the dramatic turn when Erza takes on his life with the new girl he doesn't really know, Cassidy. "good morning Cassidy" (45). Erza and Cassidy's friendship now begins to grow as they work together as a group on the debate team. "Mostly, I just don't read", I dead planned, making Cassidy laugh (69)". Erza knows Cassidy will be great help because she's smart and she is very helpful! Next, Erza and Cassidy's friendship deepened's because Erza, finally figures out who Cassidy is as a person. " let's go to the park, she bit her lip..." (69) Erza and Cassidy get much closer at this very point when they decide to talk about Erza's past about the accident, school and life at the park. Next, their friendship turns into a lot more than just friends. When Erza drives Cassidy to school every day and they go on a trip together for a debate tournament in San Diego. "she mumbled, her cheek pressing warmly on my neck (191). " I'll keep you company Cassidy said" (193). " I shot her a look of gratitude before tossing my hoodie over my back like a blanket and directed next to her (193). Next, in that very moment Cassidy, opened up to Erza. Next, Erza finally realizes, that Cassidy is different. Different in a good way because Erza noticed Cassidy is just like himself with a tragedy. They connect their bond to be so much stronger. I will continue to read this book " The Beginning Of Everything" because I can't wait to finish the book and find out what happens next between the two characters! I highly recommend this book to any readers who love romance in suspense just like me! It will really get your mind going and curious to find out what happens next.

The Boy From the Basement pt. 2
Brian Posadas
The Boy From The Basement
Continuing with the book by Susan Shaw was a very good idea. The abuse, horrors and new adventures of Charlie's life kept me reading. Charlie had escaped from the basement one night by accident from sneaking outside and getting locked out after a risky decision from leaving the basement to go urinate outside. He ends up on the street and passes out, where he is found and finally wakes up in a hospital bed. His parents didn't come looking for him and eventually is sent to a foster care home after many weeks in the hospital to gain his strength again from being malnourished and dehydrated. He is sent to a new family which he meets his new 7 year old brother and Mrs. H a widowed foster mother. He spends his days learning new things such as holidays and new foods and learning how to adjust to this whole new lifestyle which is completely different from his basement filled horrors. He is well traumatized. He experiences hallucinations of spiders and buzzing noises that fill his head. Charlie even is afraid to go outside due to his father telling him "Only bad kids go outside." (46) He is visited by teachers, therapists and new family members and is welcomed to a whole new world. One day he is visited by his dad who had been waiting for the right moment for Mrs. H to leave. His father tries to persuade him to tell lies in court and tries to get him back to his original house, when he denies, his father grabs him by the neck lifts and chokes him leaving a horrid scene that Mrs. H comes back to and saves his life once more. "The Boy From the Basement" is an excellent read with vivid imagery and constant events that leave the reader anxious. Give it a read see if it is one you are willing to take.
Being a twin is not so easy after all

Hide and Seek
By: Sara Shepard
Hide or you'll be found.
Imagine having to pretend to be your twin sister who is now dead. Emma now has to fill her sister's shoes as she searches her murderer. Little by little, Emma is watching what she had thought was a perfect family, turn into a disaster. While having her adopted little sister Laurel constantly on her back and even worse sneaking around with Emma's ex-boyfriend Thayer, she needs to remain alerted and be careful herself because "if Emma's not careful, she'll end up just like me". There was some suspicion that her own sister, Laurel, may have been the one to kill her. She's always had it out for her sister ever since she started dating Thayer, which was the person they were both crushing on. Emma went through each one of her sister's friends, clearing every one of them as murder suspects, but the one person she was hoping to eliminate, Laurel, "suddenly wasn't so airtight".
I recommend reading this book because it's an updated read and some people might be able to relate to it. Also, more and more interesting, twisted, and unexpected situations occur that will keep the reader alert.

Glass by: Ellen Hopkins
Kristina has been assuming that nobody knows that shes back on the "crank".
She is then surprised that her mother and Scott knew all along. Cluelessly waiting, she then puts her son Hunter in danger, and her mother finally takes a stand and kicks her to the curb demanding Kristina to get her life together, Her mother also takes Hunter away until she learns how to properly take care of a child.
Kristina vows to pull herself together for her son....
"The problem with the resolution is they're only as solid as the person making them." The only way she will survive is if she changes the path that she is on. The smartest decision is to stop doing drugs and get her son back.
Unfortunately, she falls back into the continuous loop of sex and drugs by living with the cousin of her latest boyfriend. Kristina is aware of her addiction but she doesn't have the power to stop it. Eventually, selling drugs is the only way to survive.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes realistic fiction. While reading this book, you feel as if you have to put yourself in the characters shoes, each verse's imagery is clear and you can picture the setting spot on. I can connect with this book because my family has experienced similar situations like Kristina and her own.
"...Later, life became harder, complicated. Ultimately a living hell, like swimming against a riptide, walking the wrong direction in the fast lane of the freeway, walking from sweetest dreams to find yourself in the middle of a nightmare." One time or another we have all felt as if we were stuck or confused. Not knowing who we are or what to do.

Bronxwood : Coe Booth
Reading Bronxwood is like reading about ones struggle in life. Most average teens can relate to what this book is about. I've only read about a third of this book and I can already tell you , if you are looking to read a more modern book this is the right one. Bronxwood is about a young adult name Ty whos had a rough life growing up. Barely speaks to his mother , Father is in jail and his younger brother is left in foster care. Ty tries to make the best of his current situation hes trying to make enough money where he could get a home for him and his brother. Unfortunately Ty has to make certain decisions he isn't proud of in order to make that dream of his a reality . And he's on his own and he has provided and kept his own since he could remember . But now his estranged father is out of jail , his dad wants to makes things right between him and his son but Ty sees it as his father only wants him to reconnect with him if it's convenient for his father which sad to say but the truth.
Most kids want to read things that are actually true and not made up , not sugar coded , I recommend this book for teens and and young adults to read because it shows what individuals actually go through on a daily basis. So if you are interested in modern books that keep it real check out or buy this book. You won't regret it .

The Trap
By John Smelcer
If you are a reader who loves fiction and stories that involve surviving into the wilderness you'll probably be interested in The Trap by John Smelcer. I've only read a small portion of this book and so far it has been making me more and more interested of what will happen next. The main characters are an older man named Albert Least weasel, and his 17 year old grandson Johnny Least Weasle. Albert has been living in an Alaskan villiage his whole life and his father taught him how to trap which is a form of hunting. One day Albert went to go to check his traps on his daily routine and Alberts wife begins to get concerned about where he is because he was taking longer to get back than usual and she wonders if Johnny should go out in the Alaskan wilderness to go out and find him.
You should go to your local bookstore and buy this book as soon as you can because this book will keep you “on your toes” and I'm sure you'll like this adventurous read. So if you love adventurous stories about getting lost in the wild you should definitely get this book.

A lot of people today say that men are not that responsible in relationships. I believe that there are many men that are very committed to their significant others. "Most men can always point north, even if they have no idea where they are." (pg.104)
People in the world today think men are so disrespectful but they forget that there are many men today that are just as responsible and committed in relationships as they were back in the day. I believe because of the distrust in the world between men and women it makes people not really want to be in relationships.
" To get a man to listen, give him advance notice and provide an agenda." (pg.91).
" To get a man to listen, give him advance notice and provide an agenda." (pg.91).
The book explains what to do to prevent this from happening so people can have a secure relationship with their significant other. "When your dealing with an upset women, don't offer solutions or invalidate her feelings - just show her that you're listening" (pg.142).That patience is the key to a successful relationship.
