Fake ID
By Lamar Giles
Have you ever wondered what it mus be like to be in hiding for almost all your life, and having the constant fear that if you have one slip up it could lead to your ultimate downfall. Fake ID covers the premises of this idea with a teenager in hiding, with his mom and dad, from a wanted crime lord.
Fake ID is fictional story which has a teenager, Tony or known by many other names, as the main character. He has had the bad luck of being integrated in WIT SEC because his father was working with wanted criminal, Kreso. WIT SEC is the United States Federal Wittiness Protection Program. Tony's dad ends up willing to confess against his boss Kreso, leading to him going into hiding causing a constant danger to Tony's family. Due to danger of Kerso finding them and Tony's dad almost revealing their hidden personas, they have had to move and change way of life multiple times. Thus Tony hasn't grown up in the best of way considering the constant dramatic changes.
Fake ID's author, Lamar Giles, in my opinion did a good job while writing the book. Throughout reading Lamar's great writing techniques kept me wanting to read. For example, Lamar adds little bits of comedy to keep the readers attention in the book. comedic comments such as "I stayed there until the sun went down, then fell asleep with a rapper shouting at me" (pg 24). These comedic comments make the feeling of the book seem more normal. In essence something a reader can connect to. Yet he doesn't add too much hiding the fact of how serious some situation are. Lamar also does a great job revealing information at a good pace. For example Lamar reveals the facts of "Something wrong with Stepton" (pg 59) at slow pace which makes the readers want to read more. This way a reader wants to continue reading to find out what happens yet doesn't feeling the story builds at too slow of a pace. I strongly recommend the book for many people. If you like mystery esc story's Fake ID is perfect. The book is well written and isn't too east or too hard to read. In conclusion Fake ID is an all round great book and should be on many peoples' list.
